Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires 4 to 6 additional years of hospital based surgical and anesthesia training following dental school. As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Leighty manages a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions. Dr. Leighty practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from pathology and trauma to corrective jaw surgery and wisdom tooth removal. He can also diagnose and treat facial pain and injuries and TMJ disorders, and performs a full range of dental implant procedures including distraction osteogenesis.
